Details

RED is a non-profit making initiative, run collectively by a small group of local artists.

Formerly known as RED Gallery at 19 Osborne Street until March 2016, RED Contemporary Arts (RCA) is an independant arts initiative based in Hull which was formed in 1997 and presents new and accessible ways of experiencing contemporary arts whether it be as interventional galleries (public realm landscape, site specific, virtual), provocative performances, artist presentations, creative sharings, debates and audio visual broadcasts.
The initiative’s primary focus is acting as a catalyst to give arts practitioners the freedom to experiment, express and develop new ideas whilst pushing the boundaries of their practice. Now without the constraints of a fixed physical space, RED aims to obtain temporary exhibition spaces to enable artists to deliver exciting solo shows in more varied environments. RED endevours to make contemporary art more accessible by instigating considered public realm interventions whilst also exploring the digital realm.
