When you visit Hitchcocks you are treated to something likened to a surrealist mystery tour.
The interior rambles it's way in a confusion of rooms situated on several levels creating natural havens and hideaways where couples or groups of friends can gather together to savour not only the delicious vegetarian and vegan cuisine that's on offer, but also the atmosphere created by a mixture of eclectic and eccentric styles mixed in with a quirky collection of thrift store curiosities.
The emphasis is most definitely on social and informal eating. Located in the heart of the old town of Kingston-upon-Hull, above the centuries old Dunswell Forge within historical High street. Hitchcock's Vegetarian Restaurant is a restaurant with a difference.
The menu for the evening is chosen by the first person to book for that night and is usually based on the cuisine of a particular country.
Some popular choices include Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Cajun, Indian, Russian and Middle Eastern; though we have also tackled more unusual requests such as Nepalese, Patagonian, Israeli, Tibetan, German and even English! We can also combine styles.
