The Ferens Art Gallery is calling for submissions from professional and amateur artists for the 2019 Open exhibition.
Whether you are a seasoned exhibitor or entering for the very first time, if you’d like your work to be seen by thousands of people, or to sell, then the Ferens Open is the platform for you.
All UK artists aged 16 or above can enter and are eligible to submit up to three pieces of work for consideration between Monday 1 October and Sunday 21 October 2018 using an online application form. Works will then be selected by a panel of specialist judges from the arts sector. This year the selectors will be John Heffernan, Senior Curator, Humber Street Gallery, Rebecca Jones, BBC Arts Correspondent, and Ian McKeever, Visual Artist.
The chosen artworks will be on display from Saturday 2 February until Sunday 14 April 2019.
This is a unique opportunity for artists to show their work alongside internationally significant examples from the Ferens permanent collection, such as Pietro Lorenzetti’s panel painting of Christ between Saints Paul and Peter, c.1320.
Prizes are on offer for the chosen works, which have been kindly donated by Friends of the Ferens and BSB Architecture, they include:

• Friends of the Ferens Award: Awards of 1st prize £250, 2nd Prize £150 and 3rd Prize £100. The winners will be selected
by the Friends of the Ferens Board.
• Student Award: £150 will go to the best student entry and will be chosen by local company BSB Architecture.
• Chair's Award - Hull Culture & Leisure: £100 prize selected by Hull Culture & Leisure Chair Marjorie Brabazon.

It costs £5 to submit each piece of artwork and the work must have been created within the last 12 months. All artists will be notified of the selector’s decision by email. Only successful artists will be required to deliver their artwork to the gallery from Saturday 12 January - Sunday 20 January 2019.
For more information on submitting your artwork and full terms and conditions, visit: 2019 Ferens Open Exhibition Information
