Details

The Bishops of Durham created this palace as a place to stay between Durham and London. Several monarchs and their entourages stayed here in medieval times. The site is entered from the East Riding of Yorkshire's car park which leads off Hailgate. Look out for the red gazebo in the adjacent garden.
