The main street of Lissett is lined with houses and farm buildings all of which give it a rustic feel. The St James of Compostella Church lies quietly behind some trees, it was built in 1876 and is said to contain the oldest dated bell in England.

In 2009, the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu unveiled a memorial sculpture at Lissett Aerodrome. The memorial was created to honour those airment and women who gave their lives during the Second World War.
