Spotlight Theatre

Spotlight Theatre

Written by Paul Carpenter and Ian Gower, Green Ginger Productions bring to the stage an adaptation of the hugely popular sitcom Hi-de-Hi!, originally written and created by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, and broadcast on BBC TV in the 80's.

Set in the late 1950s and early 60s it followed the trials and tribulations of the camp's staff at a time when the popularity of domestic holidays was already in decline.

The show became known for its long-running comedy themes, such as the smouldering passion of Gladys Pugh for the camp's uptight and rather innocent manager Jeffrey Fairbrother, and Peggy's dreams of becoming a Yellowcoat.
"Hi-de-Hi!" and "Good morning campers" became two well known catchphrases.

All the well loved characters appear in this highly amusing play set in Joe Maplin's holiday camp.
