The Minster Way starts at Beverley Minster and wanders over the Yorkshire Wolds and into the Vale of York to finish at York Minster. Two grand edifices separated by contrasting landscapes.

-Starting from Beverley Minster the route heads out of the town through streets and paths to Molescroft. From then on it's a progression of villages to, and over, the hills of the Wolds.

-From Arram to Scorborough, Lockington, Bainton and North Dalton - all names revealing Saxon origins.

-Huggate, the first Wolds village to be isolated in times of heavy snow, steep-sided Millington, Great Givendale to Bishop Wilton and onto the plain.

-The hamlet of Youlthorpe, a one time Viking settlement, to Full Sutton - Saxon again.

-Stamford Bridge, the site of a bloody battle between those Saxons and Vikings - the last Saxon victory before losing to the Duke of Normandy, better known as William the Conqueror.

-Kexby, now in the City of York administrative area via Low Catton.

-Past Elvington Airfield with its Air Museum to Fulford and into York along the bank of the River Ouse.

-The last of the forty-two miles follows the old streets of the city of York to the Minster and the end of the walk.
