Details

Formerly the gatehouse to the Grade 1 listed Georgian House of Sewerby Hall, this period property has been carefully renovated to a very good standard, resulting in a unique holiday cottage.

Cottage Includes:
Electric 'woodburner' in Living Room including Gas Central Heating • Gas • Electricity • Bed Linen and Towels • Travel Cot and High Chair On Request • Freeview TV • DVD • iPod Dock • Gas Hob • Electric Oven • Microwave • Washing Machine • Dishwasher • Lawned Garden with Patio & Furniture • BBQ • Access to 50 acre Woodland and LAndscaped Garden • Parking (1 Car, 50 yards) • 9-Hole Pitch 'n' Putt (chargeable) • Non Smoking • Wi-Fi Internet Access

Visitors can enjoy access to Sewerby Hall and Gardens (hall open Easter to September) with its impressive historic interiors, collection of memorabilia once owned by the famous local aviator, Amy Johnson and a frequently changing exhibition programme. The 50 acres of grounds with spectacular views over Bridlington Bay include the award winning landscaped gardens and numerous woodland walks, with a huge variety of wildlife. Children will love the fascinating collection of animals, particularly the penguins, which can be found in the zoo. The estate offers souvenir shops, a 9-hole pitch 'n' putt golf course, 18-hole putting green and a children's play area. The Clock Tower Tea Rooms will offer a 10% discount to visitors staying in the cottages.

A short walk leads to the beach or alternatively board the land train for a cliff top journey to Leisure World with its wave pool and water slides. The traditional resort of Bridlington appeals to all ages with its bustling harbour, historic Old Town, the Spa Bridlington and miles of sandy beaches.

Local places of interest include Flamborough with its famous lighthouse, RSPB Bempton Nature Reserve with unrivalled views of puffins, guillemots and kittiwakes whilst inland lie the scenic Yorkshire Wolds, inspiration for the famous paintings of David Hockney.

Work has now started on the Sewerby Hall restoration project at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, which is part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and visitors are reminded that whilst the estate remains open, there are minor alterations to the normal operation. The major redevelopment of the old laundry block, the stable block and the hall has been carefully arranged into two phases to minimise inconvenience. Phase one begins with work to the stable block, the provision of new zoo offices, new toilets and a new retail outlet, which has already started. Work then begins to convert the current toilets into a new welcome centre and estate office on the ground floor and the new education rooms on the first floor. Work to these two locations continues throughout the winter and will be completed for summer 2013, when the education rooms are available for room hire.
