Join in – Take part in activities on the East Yorkshire coast
Launching April 2017, The Easter Programme will kick off the Active Coast initiative by providing a range of activities and events for all ages, every day, from Saturday 8th to Friday 14th April with the showcase ‘Have a Field Day’ taking place on Sewerby Fields on Wednesday 12th April.
A main feature of Active Coast will be the exciting Beach Sports programme which includes a vibrant beach volleyball scene with four semi-permanent Go Spike courts free to use. Why not also join in the weekly coaching sessions which will take place every week in the school holidays. So check out what’s on and hit the beach!
If running, walking or cycling is your thing then head to Sewerby parkrun for a 5k challenge every Saturday or meet up for a health walk. Our adapted cycling scheme All Ride will also be up and running from April to September offering scenic rides along the North Promenade for people with additional needs.
Summer 2017 will also see the launch of our ‘six weeks of summer’ programme, providing activities every day for all ages. Look out for the Beach Sports Festival, ‘Have a Beach & Play Days’, Bossaball and the Volleyball England Beach Tour.
With so much happening in 2017, it’s easy to see why the East Yorkshire coast is a fantastic place to live, visit and be active.
Have a Beach Day
Have A Field Day / Have A Beach Day
Be part ‘Active Coast’ and join us in 2017 for a ‘Have A Field Day’ or a ‘Have A Beach Day’. These family fun days will include bags of fun and celebrate our open spaces and beaches on the East Yorkshire coast.
These free events provide a perfect chance to get out with the family and friends and celebrate all things active on the coast.
So whether you want to try out your climbing skills on the mobile clip & climb wall, test your balance with the Slackline School tight ropes, or hit the samba drums and have a dance with the Louder than Life workshops, it’s all here.
All events will include multi sports, play activities, face painting and much more with the Sport, Play & Arts Service.
