Do I have to do both courses on the same day?
You can choose whichever dates work best for your schedule, whether this is both on one day or doing them a month apart.
I'm a Hull 2017 Volunteer, am I eligible to attend?
Yes! But please book your place through the Hull 2017 Volunteer portal (Better Impact) so that all of your training records can be kept together. We also reserve some tours just for Hull 2017 Volunteers and these dates will only be advertised on your Hull 2017 portal.
Which order should I do the courses in?
It’s up to you! Some of our Alumni have said they think the ‘theory’ should come first followed by the ‘practical’ walking tour. Other Alumni have said the opposite!
I can't make any of these dates, will there be any more?
If none of these dates suit you, please check back another day as we will be releasing new course dates regularly.
I need to plan further in advance than this, do you have dates for future months?
Let us know roughly when you would like to attend a course and we'll get back to you as soon as we can with the closest available dates to your request.
I’m booking a big group, do I have to fill in the form every time?
If you want to book a big group or several people from one organisation across multiple dates, please email us for group availability and booking.
My colleagues and I would prefer weekend courses, is this possible?
Contact us with your requirements and we might be able to arrange walking tours and/or customer care training on alternative days or times.

I have mobility concerns, will you be running a walking tour which would be more suitable for me?
Please let us know if you would like us to arrange a walking tour at a gentler pace. We would like as many people as possible to take part and want to make sure the tour is comfortable and enjoyable for everyone, if a slower pace would help you then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We would love for your organisation or business to be involved in The Big Welcome! Here's how you can support us:
- Signing up your staff to attend the course
- Offering to host a customer care session: we need space for 25-30 people, presentation equipment, and tea/coffee for attendees.
- Offering something special for our Big Welcome Alumni. As an example, this could be a discount in your shop/cafe/restaurant, a couple of tickets to preview a show, a behind the scenes backstage tour of your venue... Get in touch with your ideas!

To be eligible to attend any of The Big Welcome courses, you must come into contact with visitors/tourists as part of your professional role. If you're not sure if you qualify, contact us.
Visit Hull & East Yorkshire reserve the right to query applicants' eligibility for this free training course. Only eligible applications will be accepted. Visit Hull & East Yorkshire's decision on this matter will be final.
If you should need to cancel your place on one of the courses, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can inform the course facilitator and offer your place to another delegate. You can cancel by calling the office on 01482 391535 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, being sure to include the details of the course you are scheduled to attend.
While we will always try to run every course advertised, Visit Hull & East Yorkshire reserve the right to cancel courses. In the event that we cancel a course, we will get in touch to offer you an alternative date.
