Start at Sancton village. Leave the village walking east to Houghton Hall with its civil war history. Turn north past Mount Pleasant into Market Weighton. Follow the Hudson Way and Wolds Way to the top of Weighton Hill known popularly as Arrass Hill, the largest mustering point for the Pilgrimage of Grace in October 1536. Admire the view in all directions and contemplate how 50000 strong and able men gathered here. Descend gently south west across Sancton Wold with tumuli visible to the east. Continue into Sancton village and the parish church. En route commentary will be provided as usual.
