Horse Route

Ride Yorkshire

Ride Yorkshire

Long stretches of glorious bridleway and quiet lanes with panoramic views of the Wolds including the famous Thixendale.

From Bishop Wilton the climb is steep with magnificent views behind. The route descends on a permissive track through fields into a magnificent valley to Kirby Underdale and on to Thixendale, a thriving country village and home to the wildlife artist Robert Fuller whose gallery is at Fotherdale, half a mile from Thixendale. On the route from Thixendale, the deserted medieval village of Wharram Percy can be seen and we then follow the lanes next to an old railway line towards Fimber and then towards Sledmere with its stately home and gardens.
