The Ryedale Festival brings great music and musicians to the many beautiful places in and around Ryedale, North Yorkshire – an area full of history and natural beauty.
2017 promises to be a bumper year, full of uplifting and inspirational performances. An Easter weekend of music opens with the fast-rising Busch Trio playing piano trios in St Peter’s Church, Norton. It continues with Harry Christophers and The Sixteen performing their acclaimed programme of choral gems Poetry in Music in the beautiful surroundings of the church of St Martin-on-the-Hill in Scarborough. The superlative countertenor Iestyn Davies completes our Easter Festival by singing in his home town of York with lutenist Thomas Dunford.
The summer festival will take place between 14th - 30th July and the full programme will be announced in April. As ever, events will range far and wide across the area, including performances at the great houses of Castle Howard, Hovingham, Duncombe Park and Sledmere, as well as in Ampleforth Abbey and a series of Coffee Concerts in the many beautiful, often remote, country churches of North Yorkshire.
Later in the year, there is an unmissable event on 4th November, as Sir Mark Elder conducts Elgar’s choral masterpiece The Dream of Gerontius with the Hallé Orchestra and choir in York Minster.
Join us soon to enjoy the festival’s unique magic.
