Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Conductor: Mario Venzago Piano: Danny Driver Soprano: Galina Averina Mezzo: Rebecca Afonwy Jones Tenor: Joshua Ellicot Baritone: Gary Griffths Leeds Philharmonic Choir

BEETHOVEN: Piano Concerto No.4 BEETHOVEN: Symphony No.9

There is no work more appropriate to close the Classical Season than Beethoven’s classical tour de force, his Symphony No.9. Beethoven’s masterful musical celebration of the human spirit is widely considered to be the composer’s greatest legacy to classical music, with its awe inspiring ‘Ode to Joy’ climax. The Orchestra will be joined by a host of talented singers and the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus who perform with ‘power, precision, and panache’ (Bachtrack).

Audiences will also be able to hear conductor Mario Venzago lead critically acclaimed pianist Danny Driver in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4. Softly opening with charming themes and subtle nuances, this piece later gives way to high drama and technical brilliance.
