Hull Old Town Swing Bridge

Details

Hull Old Town's new pedestrian swing bridge connects the East and West banks of the River Hull, making The Deep, The Fruit Quarter and Marina easily accessible from the Old Town and Museums Quarter. The bridge has become an instant landmark and attraction allowing pedestrians to step on and off the bridge from the landscaped gardens and boardwalk on the West bank whilst it is turning.

Whilst the bridge is still visitors can enjoy the peaceful birdsong soundscape which gives way to a rhythmic sequence of ship bells chiming whilst it is moving. Themed ‘From Mizzenmast to Sandstroke’ the artwork and sound installation recognises Hull’s maritime history.
