Former Hull City Council worker Calum Scott returns to his home city for a headline gig at a prestigious venue owned by his ex-employer.
The singer-songwriter will perform at Hull City Hall on Thursday, March 2 2017 during Hull UK City of Culture 2017’s opening Made in Hull season.
The concert will mark an incredible return for Calum, who was named winner of the Hull Daily Mail’s talent contest, Star Search, at the same venue back in 2013.
Calum captured the attention of the nation when he became Simon Cowell’s ‘Golden Buzzer’ pick on Britain’s Got Talent, putting him straight through to the live finals of the show. Not just another TV talent show hopeful, Scott is a real, formidable artist who has already proved he has instant likability, a fervent fan base as well as staying power.
In early 2016 he self-released his version of Dancing On My Own (recorded in his bedroom and the same track he sang for the Star Search final) which instantly shot up the Spotify charts becoming No.1 on iTunes in 11 countries and top 5 in 32 countries and spending 10 weeks in the top 5 in the UK singles chart. The track is the biggest selling breakthrough single of the year!
Now a rare British signing to the legendary Capitol Records, he has performed around the world, including at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics in Rio and his infectious new single, Rhythm Inside is out now.
Martin Green, CEO and Director Hull 2017, said: “Calum Scott doing a homecoming gig at City Hall as part of Hull UK City of Culture is a going to be a wonderful musical highlight during our Made in Hull season.
“We know that fans have been waiting for him to announce a major concert and I am sure they will be as excited as we are about today’s announcement.
“It’s another great addition to a fabulous year for music in Hull.”
Calum will be joined by special guests at the concert who are to be confirmed.
Tickets for Calum Scott at Hull City Hall on Thursday, March 2 2017 are £15. They go on sale on at 9am on Friday, December 16 2016.
A limited number of VIP tickets which include a standing ticket, a signed poster and souvenir laminate and a meet and greet with Calum are also available at £50.
