Horse Route

Ride Yorkshire

Ride Yorkshire

This ride is mostly along a disused railway line which has been turned into a multi-user 'rail trail'. It offers a delightful introduction to Yorkshire riding as it takes you along through wooded sections and past houses tucked away in quiet parts of villages. The route is entirely off-road except for one crossing of the A163 which can be safely achieved thanks to good sight lines.

Bubwith can be traced back to the Vikings and was home to the old trade of teasel growing. Teasels were used to comb wool into straight strands before spinning and is the origin of the phrase 'to tease out' the meaning of something.

The Grange Bed & Breakfast at Everingham offers a horse and rider lift to the start of this linear ride near Bubwith. The Grange, Clark's Common Farm, Everingham, York YO42 4LQ - 01759 306837.
