A short ride incorporating long grassy stretches over gently rolling countryside. Can be easily joined to the East Heslerton to Sledmere route to make a full day circular.
At the start of this route is the estate vilage of Sledmere, dominated by Sledmere House, home to Sir Tatton Sykes. The present house was built in 1917 on the site of an 18th century house that was destroyed by fire. Joseph Rose, an 18th century plasterer was responsible for the decorations in the original property which can still be seen and there are a collection of furnishings in Chippendale, French and Adam styles can be viewed at the house. The parklands were designed by Capability Brown. Both house and gardens can be viewed at Easter and from May to September and the tearoom can be visited by horseback.
A quiet small lane leads us to Kirby Grindalythe where bridleways of grassy tracks leads to East Heslerton.
