GET YOURSELF DOWN TO BRIDLINGTON OLD TOWN ON SUNDAY JUNE 10TH.

Bridlington Old Town Association once again invites all visitors and residents to this great FREE event on Sunday June 10th in the old Town in a Festival area that stretches all the way from the Priory Church,across Priory Green and then all the way up its Georgian High Street bedecked in red,white and blue bunting and its popular pubs and Galleries, where the Universal Pictures Dads Army Movie was filmed before it was released in February 2016.

The 40s Festival which opens at 11.00 a.m. carries on the great traditions of the Old Town’s Summer Fairs and to maintain the legacy of the Dads Army Movie and to highlight Bridlington Old Town’s connections to the 2nd World war with the Dedication plaque in the Priory Church to WW2 Battle of Britain Fighter Ace James Harry "Ginger" Lacey, DFM & Bar who was one of the highest scoring fighter pilot in World War 2.

As well as bringing many 40 re-enactors from all over the Country,including ‘Winstan Churchill and his police Guard’ and ‘Captain Mainwaring’ and General McArthur,the Festival provides a day full of free entertainment,fabulous food and a carnival atmosphere for families and people of all ages together with military vehicles,a climbing wall and even a visit to the Bayle Museum.(£1 extra charge)

The 40’s Festival brings its usual musical delights of the George Formby Experience, Madeline Brown, York’s Jessa Liversidge , the Red Sky Ukuleles at The Bayle Museum , Hunmanby Silver Band, U3a Jazz Band, Coastal Voices, The Yorkshire Corps Of Drums,Street Dancing at Gordon Corner with Murray Rose and his American Jeep. There will be lots of mouth watering food of all types including two hog roasts and Chocolate Crepes, Pims & Gin Bars and 1940’s vintage stalls.

There will also be a selection of Vintage vehicles,a 1940s Wedding Dress Collection and Ministry Of Information display in the Priory Church.

The Festival starts at 11.00 a.m.with a Parade of re-enactors,RBL and RNA led by Captain Mainwaring and Bellman of Bridlington Old Town – David Hinde and the Yorkshire Corps Of Drums.

Bellman Of Bridlington Old Town and Old Town Association spokesman David Hinde enthused “Many of our Festival visitors are looking to make a long weekend out of it visiting the areas surrounding attractions including the Heritage Coast and the demand for quality accommodation in Bridlington that weekend is always very high. The new facilities at Premier Inn add to the attraction drawing visitors from all over the Country and we are proud to be working with our new sponsors to spread the word in the run up to the Festival in less than a months time.

We have an official car park at Bridlington Rugby & Football Clubs which will be AA Events Yellow Signposted from all directions around Bridlington and for £5 you can park there for the day and get a Vintage Bus ride (included) to the Festival Entrance at Kirkgate.

THE FESTIVAL ENDS AT 5.00 P.M.

THEN COME ALONG AGAIN THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND TO SEE OLD TOWN’S HIDDEN GARDENS AT ITS SECRET GARDENS EVENT ON BOTH SATURDAY 16TH JUNE AND SUNDAY JUNE 17TH –OVER 20 GARDENS WITH A GARDEN PASS PURCHASED FROM THE LOCAL SHOPS AND GALLERIES.
