'Beverley on Film' - an exhibition of archive films of Beverley to be shown in the Guildhall.

Beverley at Play

This film has segments from many events around the town, including the Transport of Yesteryear Festival, racing at Beverley Racecourse, a number of Youth Club activities and various parades including some of the 400th anniversary celebrations in 1973. (62 minutes)

Beverley Through the Ages

A chance to see the whole of the fascinating film by Ernest Symmons in 1937 in which Beverley celebrated its history with pageants and events. (23 mins)

Beverley Salutes the Soldier

This film includes the military race on the Westwood in 1916, three films from the Second World War, including Warship Week, Collecting Books and Salute the Soldier and finishes with a ceremony awarding the Freedom of the Borough to RAF Leconfield in 1968. (43 minutes)

Many views of the town, showing the town’s Georgian features, the market and A.R. Smith’s “Drive through Beverley” in the 1960s. (62 minutes)

In this film you can see the whole of Ernest Symmons’ film “The Romance of Leather” from 1937, together with other films showing shipbuilding at Beverley Shipyard, and the launch of the last ship, Stirling Ash. There is also part of the film showing the work of Armstrong Patents. (43 minutes)

The Man with the Notebook
